I agree with Basset…

You need the book to follow Atkins properly it really helps you with all the confusions and such as well.. He explains everything to you to a T… Good Luck =o)

The Induction phase (2 weeks) is the first, and most restrictive, phase of the Atkins Nutritional Approach. It is intended to cause the body to quickly enter a state of ketosis. Carbohydrate intake is limited to 20 net grams per day (grams of carbohydrates minus grams of fiber, sugar alcohols, or glycerin), 12 to 15 net grams of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables.

The Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) phase of Atkins consists of an increase in carbohydrate intake, but remaining at levels where weight loss occurs. The target daily carbohydrate intake increases each week by 2 net grams

Here is a few of my tips: keep to the basics of meat, eggs, fish, etc. along with veggies and lower carb salad dressings (or even Olive Oil). Make sure you measure your cream or half n half (no more than 3 TBSP per day) and limit your artificial sweetener intake to 3 packets a day & no more. I would steer clear of any low carb goodies & pre-packaged low-carb goodies. Those can stall or even stop weight loss. Eat clean for those 2 weeks & you’ll see a loss of 7-14 lbs. I owe my 64 lb weight loss to following Atkins to a ‘t’.

And once you’re done with those 2 weeks, increase your carbs by adding in 5 g of carbs in the form of more veggies usually. An d then, the following week, if you are still losing, add in 5 more g of carbs, etc. There is a carb ladder to climb & you can find this at the Atkins Website.

You really need to read the book so that you know how to do it properly and why/how it works.

You can pick one up cheap at a used book store, if money is an issue.

I did the Atkins diet about 4 years ago… Lost over 30 pounds, which brought be pretty close to my target weight. However, I soon regained that weight when I stopped the diet, and more.

That’s the problem with most diets.

The Atkins diet also is hard on your kidneys and liver, which can be problematic for some people.

New research by a doctor has identified several species of parasites and a specific type of goopy plaque that if left in your bowels makes you fat, bloated, developing a pouch and spare-tire belly.

This is the cause of people’s obesity — fortunately, this research also reveals how to stop it. It further explains that the same cause of why people get fat is also the same reason why people eventually get sick and die prematurely — often cutting off years from their lives (not to mention the quality of their lives).

People who flush these parasites out, often report rapid weight losses up to 100 lbs or more — and without changing a single thing about their diets. Not that you likely need to lose anywhere near that amount… but it does prove how well it works.

Cheers,
Trevor
