Most of the titles are non-fiction, I’ve read them all except "Eat, Pray, Love," "The Secret" and the "DaVinci Code," of which I read the first 20 pages or so and abandoned because Dan Brown is a hack writer.

A "novel" is a work of fiction. On your list, numbers 2, 10 through 12, 14 through 17, 19 through 21 and 23 are not novels. Most are "self-help" or just barely business titles.

Most of the titles are pedestrian and their sales are the result of stupendous marketing campaigns, rather than that of merit.

You must consider the nature of each book, when it was written and the media coverage at the time.

The "Harry Potter" books are marvelous.

My favorites are To Kill A Mockingbird and Memoirs of a Geisha, both classics that will endure. Most of the other stuff will not.

My favorite is number four: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Anyone can relate to the feelings that Lily has–even males. We all feel desperate in our lives, the longing to fill something empty within us. Sometimes we feel unloved, unwanted. But this book is filled with hope.

The Kite Runner, The Da Vinci Code, and The Five People You Meet in Heaven are all tied for first.

DAmn…. JKR has got it going on. I like the harry potters as well as To kill a Mockingbird and Catcher in the Rye….. and please dont tell me twilight. That book is a joke.

Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code, and To Kill A Mockingbird are my favorites from that list.

It’s embarrassing that Twilight is on there.

64 ~ The Polar Express (beautiful illustrations. I’ve not seen the movie yet, but I really enjoyed their animation.)

My favorite single book from this list would either have to be To Kill a Mockingbird, Holes, or Lord of the Flies.

My favorite book in a series would be HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Of all these, I’d have to say I love the Lord of the Rings books best.

Definately Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling, no doubt about that. According to me, it is by far the best and most loved children’s book in modern times. I also think it is the best book of whole Harry Potter series.

I think the Sorcerer’s Stone changed the course of children’s literature. It has given rise to another six books that have reached the very top of bestseller lists worldwide. It is not only a normal bestseller, but a phenomenon. JK Rowling has cast millions of readers in reading by this book, especially at the time when the lives of children were dominated by television and computer games.

So, I don’t think I am surprised that it is on #1 in the list. Jo Rowling deserves it.
